A formal referral from your GP is not necessary. If needed, the orthotist will consult with your GP or other practitioners to achieve the best results.
Like physiotherapy and chiropractic, orthotist treatment is not covered by Medicare. However, it is covered by major health insurance companies under their ancillary or extras cover.
